Lewis holds an M.F.A. in Studio Art & Design from the University of Louisville in Kentucky, where they are currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Comparative Humanities on the Public Arts & Letters track. Their research sits at the intersection of Art, Public Humanities, and Aesthetics.
In 2024, Lewis organized the community printmaking event CeLOUbrate Print with the Portland Museum, in addition to hosting free woodcut workshops in collaboration with local organizations and print shops. In 2023, Lewis worked on a project led by Dr. Felicia Jamison titled Uncovering Oxmoor: Amplifying the Lives of Enslaved People at a Plantation in Louisville, Kentucky, during which they worked in the Filson Historical Society’s archives to construct biographies for the people enslaved at Oxmoor Farm.
Currently, Lewis works as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Louisville Comparative Humanities Department and an Adjunct Professor at the Georgetown College Art Department. Throughout their pedagogy, Lewis follows conversations of Art with those of decolonizing its institutions. Lewis has a passion for teaching and hopes to continue their journey in academia after finishing their Ph.D., especially in creative and interdisciplinary avenues.
